Clinical Summaries for Solicitors

In some cases all the solicitor requires in the first instance is a summary of the case notes so that he/she is able to evaluate the case and discuss the facts with the client, free of any opinion concerning liability.

Not being medical trained, solicitors may find it difficult to sort out what the significant data are, and whether they have been furnished with a complete set.  It is, regrettably, not uncommon for the vital data to be missing even though some kilograms of records have been forwarded; such deficiencies can have embarrassing consequences for either party in the case.

Specifying that all you require is a summary of the essential facts will give the solicitor what he requires without any opinion on liability.  Accordingly, the request is such cases should state SUMMARY ONLY REQUIRED.
