Male and Female Sterilisation

Until the middle of the XXth century, most common law countries made male and female sterilisations illegal operations unless there was a medical indication for it.  Patients may now lawfully request sterilisation.

Although operations to achieve infertility are relatively simple, when complications of surgery do arise they may generate an astonishing amount of hostility.  This is probably due to the emotional involvement of the sexual partners and any difficulties they may have had in their relationship.  Guilt feelings can be discharged by blaming the surgeon.
